Physics Syllabus

 

Physics is the study of matter and energy and their interactions. Attendance is a major part of a student’s success. The use of math and problem solving skills is essential, and a calculator will be allowed and encouraged on class assignments and tests. Scientific calculators will be provided to the student, but personal calculators are allowed.

Grades

The grading scale at the right will be applied to this course:Each marking period will consist of at least 5 test grades, and an additional bell work grade.       
       

Absences

It will be the student’s responsibility to catch up on missed material if absent.  According to the Student Handbook, students are given 3 days to make up work after an excused absence.  The student should try to get a copy of missed notes from another classmate OUTSIDE of class, not during.  If extra help is needed, please talk to me before or after your class period in order to schedule a tutoring session one day after school in order to catch up.

  • Pen/Pencil (pencils encouraged)
  • Binder
  • Loose Leaf Paper
  • Graphing Notebook or Paper
  • Scientific or Graphing Calculator

Classroom Expectations & Discipline

The expectations of my classroom are as follows:

1.       We will be respectful.
2.       We will be on time.
3.       We will come prepared.
4.       We will not eat or drink.
5.       We will not use prohibited devices. 

All school rules and classroom rules will be strictly enforced.  The success of your child will depend on their attitude and behavior, as well as their capability. Their attention must be given at all times to understand the material.  Your child will be earning a unit of credit toward graduation and needs to realize the importance of success in this course.   The Shield will be assigned if any of the following are not followed. 

1.       Not having supplies – paper, pencil, workbook, etc.
2.       Talking or roaming the classroom without permission.
3.       Disrespecting another person, or property.
4.       Miscellaneous-anything not covered above that would cause disruptions in the learning process.
